About Application Development
Software becomes worth building when the off-the-shelf option starts dictating how your business runs. The applications I build replace a spreadsheet nobody trusts, an inbox doing the job of a CRM, or three disconnected tools that should have been one. Scope runs from a focused internal tool to a full multi-sided platform.
A typical build involves a React and TypeScript front end, a Postgres database with row-level security, serverless edge functions for business logic, authentication with proper role separation, Stripe for payments and subscriptions, transactional email, and integrations with the systems you already depend on. Where it earns its place, AI goes in: document extraction, classification, drafting and retrieval, rather than a chatbot bolted to the corner of the screen.
My own portfolio is the evidence. Enforcement.app manages the full debt recovery lifecycle through to High Court enforcement, with AI-powered invoice processing. HireSpark is an AI applicant tracking system and CRM. Fusion Club runs a multi-site gym group on a platform spanning forty-plus public pages, eighteen edge functions, a member dashboard, live race timing and a drop-based merch shop. CNFT.IO handled over 400,000 users and more than $750m in transaction volume. Having built, scaled, sold and closed these myself tends to change the advice you get.
Ideal For
- Businesses outgrowing spreadsheets and disconnected tools
- Founders at MVP stage who need a credible first build
- Operators who need a member, customer or staff portal
- Teams with a manual process that should be automated
How It Works
- Scoping: We map the problem, the users, the data and the integrations, then agree the smallest version that delivers real value and what comes after it.
- Architecture: Data model, stack and integration points decided deliberately, with an eye on what this costs to run and to extend in two years.
- Build and review: Delivered in reviewable increments on a staging environment, so you're using the thing and giving feedback long before launch.
- Launch and support: Production deployment, monitoring, documentation and handover, with ongoing development available where the roadmap continues.

Application Development: Frequently Asked Questions
Can you build for iOS and Android as well as web?
Yes. Products are regularly delivered across web, iOS and Android, either as native builds or a shared cross-platform codebase, depending on what the app needs to do with the device.
What technology do you use?
Commonly React and TypeScript on the front end, Postgres with edge functions behind it, Stripe for payments and transactional email for notifications. The stack is chosen to be maintainable by someone other than me, which matters more than novelty.
I only have an idea, not a specification. Can you still help?
That's the normal starting point. Scoping is part of the work, and a free 30-minute consultation is a sensible way to find out whether the idea is worth building before anyone spends money on it.
Will I own the code?
Yes. Ownership, repositories and infrastructure accounts are handed over. You should never be in a position where your business depends on a developer refusing to let go.
Can you take over an existing application?
Often, yes, after a review of the codebase and infrastructure. Sometimes the honest answer is that a rebuild costs less than inheriting what's there, and you'll be told that plainly either way.
