About Branding & Identity
A brand is the shorthand your customers use to decide whether you're worth their time. It has to hold up at every size and in every context: on a shopfront, a van, an invoice, an app icon and a 40×40 pixel social avatar. So the work starts with the business rather than the logo. What do you sell, who buys it, who are you up against, and what should someone think the second they see your name?
From there I build the full identity system. A primary logo with the lockup variants you will need in practice, a colour palette that holds up in print and on screen, a type hierarchy, and the supporting elements that tie it all together. You end up with a usable asset pack and a set of guidelines, so the identity survives being handed to a printer, a signwriter or a future developer.
Branding is where most of my client work begins. Salons, trades, gyms, charities, football clubs, online schools and software platforms have all started here. It also makes everything downstream cheaper and quicker, because the website, the print run and the ad creative are all working from one agreed visual language.
Ideal For
- New businesses that need a credible first impression
- Established businesses that have outgrown a DIY or inherited logo
- Rebrands after a change of ownership, direction or market
- Sub-brands, product lines and second locations
How It Works
- Discovery: A conversation about the business, the customers, the competition and the impression you want to leave. Existing assets, preferences and non-negotiables all get captured here.
- Direction: Initial routes that each take a different position on the brand, so the decision is about strategy and feel rather than picking a favourite font.
- Refinement: The chosen direction becomes a full system: variants, palette, type and supporting elements, tested at real sizes and in real contexts.
- Handover: You receive every file format you need, organised and named, alongside guidelines so anyone can apply the brand correctly without asking.

Branding & Identity: Frequently Asked Questions
What do I receive at the end of a branding project?
An organised asset pack with your logo and its variants in vector (AI/EPS/SVG) and raster (PNG/JPG) formats, colour and typography specifications, and a brand guidelines document. Everything comes in both print-ready and web-ready versions, so you're never stuck waiting on a file.
Do you only design logos, or the whole identity?
The whole identity. A logo on its own tends to fall apart the moment it meets a menu, a van or a website header, so colour, typography, layout rules and supporting assets are all part of the work.
Can you refresh an existing brand rather than start from scratch?
Yes. If there's recognition and goodwill in your current identity, a refresh that modernises it while keeping the equity is often the better commercial decision. We would agree up front how far the change should go.
How much does branding cost?
Every project is quoted individually on scope: the number of variants, whether print and signage artwork is needed, and how much supporting collateral comes with it. Work starts from £500. Send an outline and you'll get a fixed quote.
Can you take the brand straight into a website and print?
Yes, and it's usually the most efficient route. Branding, website design and development, and print and signage are regularly delivered as one joined-up project rather than three separate ones.
